The Book of Dreams, The Book of Dreamers by Debora Gordon is a collection of 100 essays on the dreams of people, animals, ideas, and a range of concepts from cats to clouds, and more. 

The Book of Dreams is an expression and a deep dive and examination of the possibilities of what is dreamt about by both humans in various capacities, as well as other entities, and how they may fantasize or imagine possibilities.

It expresses author Debora Gordon’s unique style and messages. She says, “The Book of Dreams exemplifies my poetic expressions, although in prose, through analogies, personifications and visualizations of what is, what might be, what could be, and also what is but perhaps should not be.”

Debora Gordon is a writer, artist, educator, and longtime freelance journalist whose career spans more than three decades. She grew up in New York (city and suburbs), before attending San Francisco State University, graduating with a B.A. in Fine Arts.  She then worked as a taxi driver and street artist at Fisherman’s Wharf, before embarking on a nearly two-year, self-guided tour around the world, including a brief stint teaching English as a Second Language (ESL) in Japan. After returning to the United States, she spent nearly 30 years teaching in the Oakland Unified School District before retiring and relocating to Ashland, Oregon, where she now writes for Ashland.News and the Rogue Valley Times. 

Her journalism covers a wide range of community stories, from civil rights and local history to arts and culture. And she maintained a blog called “Weapons of Mass Instruction” on the San Francisco Chronicle’s website for several years. She also writes a daily poem, usually shared on Facebook. contributes  recurring poetry column. Gordon continues to share her passion for writing and art as an instructor at the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Southern Oregon University. A dedicated non-violence activist, she approaches her work — whether in journalism, poetry, fiction, or the classroom — with a commitment to thoughtful living and the power of storytelling to build understanding.
